So far this season, the two best pure-passing quarterbacks Alabama has faced have been Vanderbilt’s Kyle Shurmur and Ole Miss’s Shea Patterson.

In those games, the Crimson Tide have allowed a grand total of three points, blowing out the Commodores and Rebels by a combined score of 125-3.

Therefore, it’s understandable that the Alabama secondary is excited for the challenge of facing a better Auburn team and QB Jarrett Stidham this weekend. DB Anthony Averett said this is the reason you come to a school like Alabama (via 247Sports):

“I call this the money game,” he said. “I like games like this. It’s going to be fun.”

Fellow DB Minkah Fitzpatrick said it’ll be important for the Alabama secondary not to get sucked in toward the line of scrimmage when the Tigers run the ball:

“That’s usually how they get the ball in the air,” Fitzpatrick said. “They love to run the ball, run the ball, run the ball and then throw shots over the top. The last couple of years we did a good job of stopping that.

“I think we’ll be able to keep doing that.”

With an SEC West title and a spot in the conference championship game on the line, Saturday afternoon’s game is sure to be interesting.
