TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — We’re one day from the biggest showdown of the college football season.

No. 1 Alabama travels to Baton Rouge to face No. 3 LSU inside Death Valley on Saturday night. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT on CBS.

Alabama enters with the top offense in the country while LSU brings in a vaunted defense. It’s WRU vs. DBU. The Tide have five pass-catchers ranked in the top 6 in the SEC in yards per catch. All five are averaging more than 17 yards per catch. They’ve combined for 28 touchdown receptions.

The Crimson Tide opened as a 14.5-point favorite.

Here are five reasons Alabama will beat LSU.

Tua Tagovailoa >>> Joe Burrow

Tua Tagovailoa is one of, if not, the best quarterbacks in the entire country. Joe Burrow isn’t.

Tagovailoa has thrown for 25 touchdowns. Burrow has thrown 6. Tagovailoa has thrown 0 interceptions. Burrow has thrown 3.

No disrespect to Burrow, but this one isn’t even close. Tagovailoa is a special talent performing at an elite level. He also has multiple weapons who have game-breaking ability.

Look for Tagovailoa to have a Heisman performance Saturday.

Nick Saban >>> Ed Orgeron

Nick Saban is the greatest college football coach of all time. Ed Orgeron is a good coach, but he’s not anywhere near Saban’s level.

Does anyone really expect an Orgeron led team to defeat a Saban team? Orgeron will have his team fired up, but Saban isn’t going to lose to Orgeron in a big game.

Alabama owns LSU

LSU hasn’t been the same since Alabama beat them in the 2011 BCS National Championship Game. There was a time when this game went back-and-forth (2007-2010), but since that night in New Orleans in January 2012, the Tigers have dropped seven consecutive to Alabama.

The narrative completely changed. LSU went from being considered a national championship contender to having its players be asked “can you compete with Alabama?”

It also doesn’t help matters when Nick Saban and Alabama routinely go into Louisiana and pull top prospects in recruiting.

Alabama’s Louisiana natives will have a big game

Alabama has six starters from Louisiana — Dylan Moses, Isaiah Buggs, DeVonta Smith, Irv Smith Jr., Shyheim Carter and Joseph Bulovas. There’s also Saivion Smith, who signed with LSU out of high school before transferring.

All of those guys will be fired up when they take the field Saturday. Louisiana guys take a lot of flack when they go outside the state, especially to Alabama.

Moses probably took the most heat of this group because he’s been a phenom since 8th grade. Moses is playing like one of the top inside linebackers in the country. It wouldn’t be a surprise if he led the team in tackles Saturday night.

Alabama is going 15-0

No one in the country is going to beat Alabama, especially not LSU. This Alabama team will be the first group to finish the year 15-0. Alabama flirted with it in 2016, but lost to Clemson on a last-second play in the national championship.

This team has a chance to go down as the greatest team in college football history, and they’re definitely not going to let LSU get in the way of them and history.
