After entering his name into the NCAA transfer portal, an Alabama freshman cornerback has decided to stay with the Crimson Tide after speaking with coach Nick Saban about rejoining the team.

Scooby Carter is back with the team, according to his father Jeffery Carter Sr. The older Carter spoke to AL.com’s Matt Zenitz about his son’s decision.

“Regardless of whoever it was or whatever it was (with other schools), it’s not Alabama and it’s not with Coach Saban,” Carter Sr. told Zenitz. “I feel that this the best place we’ll be able to mature and grow up.”

Scooby, a top-100 recruit in the class of 2019, entered his name in the portal after being suspended for the Mississippi State game in November. He is back to participating in UA workouts, according to Zenitz.

Carter has played in three games during the 2019 season (Duke, New Mexico State and Southern Miss), giving the option to play in the Citrus Bowl against Michigan and still redshirt for the season. According to the AL.com report, “several schools reached out” to Carter about visits.
