4-star 2018 LB King Mwikuta had a final three of Georgia, Miami and Florida State and had previously announced he’d be making his decision on his birthday, which is Dec. 15.

He stuck to his word on the date, but in a surprising twist, a new school emerged at the 11th hour to land his commitment.

As you can see below, Mwikuta decided to commit to Alabama over the three schools he had previously listed as his finalists:

According to 247Sports, Mwikuta said he couldn’t pass up the opportunity to play for a coach like Nick Saban:

“I just like the school and who they are,” Mwikuta told BamaOnLine of the Tide. “It doesn’t get no better than to be coached by Coach (Nick) Saban. I like Coach Tosh (Lupoi) and Coach (Derrick) Ansley over there, too. Coach Tosh is just cool, man. He reminds me of my head coach. Coach Ansley tells you how it is and what it’s going to be. He doesn’t sugarcoat it. He’s like Coach Saban.”

According to the 247Sports composite, Mwikuta, a Georgia native, is the No. 5 outside linebacker in the class of 2019 and the No. 9 overall recruit from the state of Georgia.

While Alabama still has some work to do on its 2018 class, the Crimson Tide now have three talented players in their 2019 class with the addition of Mwikuta.
