Alabama’s depth on the offensive line is taking a bit of a hit as a career backup is electing to transfer.

Richie Petitbon, who redshirted two years ago, has played sparingly in his career with the Crimson Tide. This season, he’s appeared in six games, but it appears to be his last, according to a report from AL.com. Petitbon, who graduated in May, will be immediately eligible for another school as a graduate transfer.

When Petitbon committed to Alabama as part of the 2015 class, he was ranked the No. 62 recruit in America, the No. 5 at his position — offensive guard — and No. 1 in the Washington, D.C. metro area. A 2015 Parade All-America team, Petitbon was a consensus 4-star recruit.

He suffered a torn ACL in April 2016, but has played every position along the offensive line for the Crimson Tide the last two years.

The Annapolis, Maryland native was one of Alabama’s Commitment to Academic Excellence award winners during the spring of 2017.
