Heard County (Franklin, Ga.) QB Emory Jones has been committed to Ohio State since July 29, but SEC coaches won’t let him leave the Southeast without a hard sell. Georgia has said it is changing its offense to fit Jones’ skill set. Now Alabama is looking to get into the mix.

As a dual-threat quarterback, the offer to Jones could be a sign that the Crimson Tide offense won’t be undergoing any drastic changes from the system run by Lane Kiffin. Last month, Nick Saban announced the hire of long-time NFL assistant Brian Daboll as UA’s new offensive coordinator. There were also reports last month that Saban was looking to hire former Ole Miss OC Dan Werner as an offensive analyst, but nothing official has been announced. Werner has a background of developing quarterbacks for the spread offense.

Daboll’s system and play-calling will be a major storyline this spring as he works with returning starter Jalen Hurts and early enrollees Tua Tagovailoa, 2017’s No. 1 dual-threat quarterback, and Mac Jones, the class’ No. 12 pro-style passer, at quarterback.

If Emory Jones were to flip his commitment to Alabama, it would give the Crimson Tide three-straight recruiting classes with a Top 3 dual-threat quarterback and back-to-back classes with the top dual-threat quarterback. Jones’ highlights can be viewed below:
