Demand for tickets for the Alabama-Ohio State national championship appears to be among the highest of the last decade.

According to a report from Stewart Mandel of The Athletic via TicketIQ, the average ticket price for Monday’s national title game is $2,433. That makes it the fourth-highest price after previous title games in 2018 (Alabama-Georgia), 2017 (Alabama-Clemson) and 2011 (Auburn-Oregon).

Of course, part of it speaks to the limited capacity of just 16,000 fans expected at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, which at full capacity is listed at more than 65,000.

With the Buckeyes and Crimson Tide, this is the third consecutive title-game matchup of undefeated teams.

Alabama has played 12 games, with a SEC-only schedule and then a win over Florida 52-46 in the SEC championship game. The Crimson Tide then dispatched of Notre Dame in the relocated Rose Bowl. That semifinal was moved from Pasadena because of COVID-19 restrictions that would have kept any fans from attending the game. Ohio State’s overwhelming win in the Sugar Bowl was only its seventh game this season.

Alabama opened as a touchdown favorite over Ohio State, fueled by a prolific offense that features two Heisman Trophy finalists.
