Alabama’s depth at punter may soon be taking a hit as senior Mike Bernier has reportedly entered the NCAA transfer portal.

A former walk-on, Bernier was elevated to the team’s starting punter last season beginning with the Oct. 20 trip to Tennessee — a role he finished the season for the Crimson Tide. During his time punting for Alabama, Bernier had 25 punts for 951 yards with a long of 55 yards.

According to Matt Zenitz of AL.com, Bernier recently entered his name into the transfer portal. Bernier was listed on Alabama’s roster as a redshirt senior last season, so it’s unclear if he would have been even able to compete for the Crimson Tide next season, however, he is listed on the team’s 2019 spring roster.

Alabama does have a few options should Bernier decided to leave the program as sophomore Skyler Delong and true freshman Will Reichard could potentially fill the starting punting duties for the Crimson Tide next season.
