Once again, Alabama competed with itself in the first round of the NFL draft.

The Tide won. Again.

For the fourth time in the Nick Saban era, Alabama had 4 first-round picks. Not only did that tie the program record, but it also tied its own SEC record. Alabama accomplished that feat last year, as well as in 2012 and 2011.

Here were the Alabama draft picks who made that happen on Thursday night:

  • No. 11 Miami Dolphins — Minkah Fitzpatrick, S
  • No. 13 Washington Redskins — Da’Ron Payne, DT
  • No. 22 Tennessee Titans — Rashaan Evans, ILB
  • No. 26 Atlanta Falcons — Calvin Ridley, WR

Alabama led the way among all schools with first-round picks. Georgia was the only other program to have more than 2 players selected in the first round. That meant 22 percent of the first-round picks were from the College Football Playoff National Championship.

Next on Alabama’s list of accomplishments is besting its modern era draft record for selections (10), which it set last year.

The Tide could be in good shape to do that when the draft continues on Friday night in Dallas.
