Former Alabama DB Kyriq McDonald will be eligible to play at Cincinnati immediately in 2019.

According to BearcatJournal.com’s Chad Brendel, McDonald received an NCAA waiver and is working with the second team during fall camp. The Madison, Alabama, native transferred to Cincinnati this offseason.

He played in 11 games before deciding to leave the Alabama program. He made seven tackles in 11 games in 2018.

McDonald was twice honored by the Alabama coaching staff as Special Teams Player of the Week following his performances against Mississippi State and Auburn last season.

If you’ll remember, McDonald is the player who collapsed on the sideline of the 2018 national championship game against Georgia. Thankfully, everything turned out to be okay.

McDonald is a former 3-star recruit who was ranked as the nation’s No. 45 overall CB and the state of Alabama’s No. 22 overall prospect for the class of 2017, according to 247Sports Composite Rankings.
