The Alabama Crimson Tide will play their first home game this Saturday, September 7, 2019, against the New Mexico State Aggies at 3:00 p.m. central time and 4:00 p.m. eastern time.

The game will take place at Bryant Denny Stadium, the home of the Crimson Tide since 1929.

The Crimson Tide enter week two as the number two ranked team in the country according to the AP Top 25. The New Mexico State Aggies are not ranked and did not receive any votes.

This will be the Crimson Tide’s first game at home this season, and every team wants to go out and get a win at home. If New Mexico State were to pull off the unthinkable, it would be the biggest upset in college football history thus far.

Alabama vs. New Mexico State players to watch

Tua Tagovailoa is arguably the best quarterback in college football and is a serious Heisman contender. Tagovailoa lit up the Duke defense for 336 yards and four touchdowns last week. One of the most exciting players in all of college football, Tagovailoa is definitely a must-see player.

Josh Adkins will be under center for the Aggies this Saturday. As a true Freshman in 2018, he had eight starts and threw for over 2,500 yards. He showed great promise, but also struggled as true Freshman do. He was the only true Freshman in the country to finish in the top 25 in the country in yards per game. New Mexico State fans are very excited about the future of Adkins.

Jerry Jeudy might win his second consecutive Biletnikoff award this season. Last year he put up 1,315 yards receiving with 14 receiving touchdowns. Last week against Duke, Jeudy had 137 yards and a touchdown. Jeudy is considered by many to be the best receiver prospect in this year’s upcoming NFL draft. Whenever Jeudy gets the ball, you better be watching.

Roy Lopez is the anchor for the New Mexico State defensive line. Last year he recorded four sacks with 12.5 tackles for loss. He had 63 total tackles last year. Lopez is the Aggies best NFL prospect and can wreak havoc on an offensive line.

Alabama vs. New Mexico State odds

Alabama Crimson Tide week one review

The Alabama Crimson Tide opened their season in Atlanta against Duke this past Saturday. The Crimson Tide struggled early on against the Blue Devils and only held a 14-3 lead at halftime. After a slow start, the Crimson Tide began to roll, scoring 28 in the second half, and it could’ve easily been more

The Crimson Tide offense struggled in the first quarter but woke up after that. The Tide gained a total of 512 yards, 367 coming through the air and 145 on the ground. The rushing game was better in the second half, but really never looked like the traditional Alabama run game. The offensive line also struggled this game, and that is a concern for many Bama fans.

Many analysts and fans alike were concerned about the Tide defense coming into the game, but the defense was the strong point of the Tide against Duke. They gave up 204 yards total, 97 in the air and 107 on the ground. Freshman linebackers Christian Harris and Shane Lee looked great in their debuts.

Nick Saban in home openers

This will be Nick Saban’s 13th year at Alabama and 24th year overall as a head coach (in college). Let’s take a look and see how his teams at Alabama have performed in home openers:

-2007: Alabama win over Western Carolina
-2008: Alabama win over Tulane
-2009: Alabama win over Florida International
-2010: Alabama win over San Jose State
-2011: Alabama win over Kent State
-2012: Alabama win over Western Kentucky
-2013: Alabama win over Colorado State
-2014: Alabama win over Florida Atlantic
-2015: Alabama win over Middle Tennessee State
-2016: Alabama win over Western Kentucky
-2017: Alabama win over Fresno State
-2018: Alabama win over Arkansas State

New Mexico State Aggies week one review

The New Mexico State Aggies opened their season on the road at Washington State. The game was a tough one to watch for Aggie fans, as they lost 58-7. The Aggies scored seven in the first quarter, but after that, they were blanked for the rest of the game.

The Aggie offense wasn’t terrible in terms of gaining yards, but the offense only scored seven points. Josh Adkins’ rushing touchdown was how they got on the board. They had 221 passing yards, but only 97 rushing yards. The struggles against Washington State worry a lot of Aggie fans because they wonder how Adkins and the Aggie offense will fair against Alabama.

The Aggie defense wasn’t good, and that’s putting it lightly. They gave up 507 passing yards and 101 rushing yards to Washington State. It’s safe to say they will have their hands full against this high scoring Alabama offense.
