Alabama is looking to keep its undefeated season going with a win over Auburn, and one player that will look to play a big role in the game is Damien Harris.

The junior RB currently leads the Crimson Tide in rushing yards (855) and rushing TDs (11) while averaging 8.2 yards per carry. He is having another strong season after rushing for 1,037 yards as a sophomore but there is no denying that Harris has looked better this season.

Harris has drastically improved his touchdown total – from two as a sophomore to 11 this season – and has shown an ability to finish off runs in the open field. He recently made an appearance on the SEC Network to discuss his improved play and changes he made in the offseason.

Marcus Spears asked Harris if he had any advice for someone looking to shed weight, and Harris said lose the Honey Buns and get with Alabama’s Scott Cochran:

“Honey Buns, I would definitely say that’s the first step,” said Harris, “But get with coach Cochran. He’s amazing at what he does. He helped me make a big transition. I knew that I needed to get my body in better shape and I knew I could perform better.”

Cochran, who serves as Assistant Athletic Director for Strength and Conditioning for Alabama, has a strong track record. He has been with the Crimson Tide since 2007.

Harris was also asked about the upcoming Iron Bowl and how he is helping younger teammates prepare for the game. He said it is definitely the biggest game the team has played so far this season, but the Tide are focusing on what they need to do and not on the opponent:

“The biggest game that we’ve played this far,” said Harris. “This is the greatest rivalry in all of college football…We’re focused on our team and what we have to do to get the win Saturday.”

Harris and the Tide will look to knock off the Tigers with the SEC West title on the line. Saturday’s kickoff for the Iron Bowl is set for 3:30 pm EST on CBS.
