It’s quite common for college quarterbacks to look up to their NFL counterparts.

But Tua Tagovailoa has played well enough to earn the fandom of at least one pro.

Tagovailoa shared a supportive message from Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson on his Instagram in which Wilson reached out to help Alabama’s star signal-caller. The Super Bowl champion and four-time Pro Bowler has already seen enough from Tagovailoa to feel strongly enough about contacting him.

“Huge fan of you bro,” Wilson wrote. “Keep balling. Let’s link up. Always here for you. I know we got similar (people) in our worlds and everything else too. Whatever I can do to help bro.”

Wilson was a great college quarterback himself, starting at North Carolina State before transferring to Wisconsin. But Tagovailoa seems to be on track to have him beat — the sophomore is considered the leader in the Heisman Trophy race and has No. 1 Alabama as the locked-in favorite to win the national championship again.

Whether he surpasses Wilson or not, Tagovailoa is certainly happy to have a star NFL quarterback in his corner.
