With Jalen Hurts’ success as a true freshman, Alabama quarterbacks are deciding to look elsewhere for playing time.

Redshirt sophomore QB David Cornwell announced his intentions to transfer in a statement posted on Twitter.

Blake Barnett announced his transfer to junior college during the season and has since committed to Arizona State to play in 2017. Earlier this week, Cooper Bateman, who saw action in the SEC Championship Game, announced his intentions to transfer.

With Cornwell out, that leaves Hurts and Montana Murphy as current quarterbacks on roster for 2017. The Crimson Tide currently have two four-star quarterbacks, dual-threat prospect Tua Tagovailoa and pro-style prospect Mac Jones pledged to sign in the ’17 class.

Cornwell was originally a 2014 signee out of Norman North (Okla.), rated four stars and the No. 65 overall recruit by 247Sports Composite. He did not see action in 2015, but played against Kent State and Mississippi State this season.
