The Alabama Crimson Tide were seconds away from seeing their College Football Playoff hopes disappear. Trailing LSU 13-10 on the road, the Tide started their final possession of regulation at their own 35-yard line. Quarterback Blake Sims led a pass-heavy drive that went 55 yards on nine plays.
Adam Griffith made a 27-yard field goal to even the score at 13-13 and force overtime. Head coach Nick Saban and offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin decided to stick with their scheme in extra play.
Sims opened the drive with a 24-yard pass on 1st and 10 to open the drive. After several running plays, the Tide found the end zone as Sims connected with DeAndrew White for a 6-yard touchdown. Alabama’s defense stood tall and forced LSU to a four and out as Anthony Jennings failed to connect with his receivers.
