Bryce Young, Will Anderson share first impressions of 5-star early enrollee QB Ty Simpson
Bryce Young is fresh off a Heisman Trophy victory. He’ll be back for the 2022 season, but then he’ll give way to another highly rated QB in Tuscaloosa.
That quarterback might be 5-star 2022 early enrollee Ty Simpson, who is already on campus and practicing with the Tide as they prepare for the College Football Playoff.
On Tuesday, Young was asked about Simpson, and he had nothing but positive things to say about his potential top backup for 2022:
#Alabama QB Bryce Young on early enrollee Ty Simpson: "You can tell he's a natural thrower. He's made some really good throws, even early, and that's not easy when you're thrust into … playoff practice mode at the end of the season."

On the other side of the ball, star LB Will Anderson joked that Simpson doesn’t have to worry about Anderson hitting him just yet, but that’ll be a different story in the spring:
Will Anderson on new Alabama QB Ty Simpson: “I went up to him, I said you don’t have to worry about me hitting you right now. But just know that in the springtime, you gonna see me all the time. I’m gonna always be in your face."

Young is unquestionably the guy for now, but Simpson could be the next great Alabama quarterback. We’ll see how he progresses moving forward. He’s getting a head start on his Alabama career now, though.
