As Alabama WRs Calvin Ridley and Robert Foster take the field at the NFL Combine on Saturday, they’ll be working from two very different ends of the spectrum.

Ridley is a likely first-round pick, while Foster will try to get on teams’ radars just to hear his name called at all during the 2018 NFL Draft.

Though Ridley was the star of the Alabama offense, recording 63 catches. The next closest receiver was RB Bo Scarbrough, who had 17 catches. Foster, meanwhile, had 14 grabs.

However, ahead of their combine performances, Ridley said he thinks Foster can be a talented receiver at the NFL level (via AL.com):

“I mean, we had a lot going on,” Ridley said. “The way we had things, I got the ball a lot more than the other guys. It was a weird situation but I definitely think he’s a great receiver and he’s going to improve.”

That didn’t stop things from getting awkward in the Alabama receiver room, though, as Ridley said it was weird that he had so many more catches than the other receivers:

“Sometimes, yeah because some of the guys made comments, throw up the charts,” Ridley said. “Everybody would have like five catches and I had like 50. It’s just kinda weird. I wish we all had the same amount but we won the championship. And everybody was happy.”

When you have a talented player like Ridley, you want to get him the ball as much as possible. Next year, though, with several talented but unproven young receivers, the Tide may spread the ball around a bit more.
