Chris Doering pulled in plenty of attention last week when he said Ole Miss would upset Alabama, and after the Crimson Tide rolled, Doering offered a public apology late Saturday night on the SEC Network.

“I’m going to look you guys in the eyes, the American public and tell you I was wrong,” Doering said. “I was wrong about this team being inexperienced, being too young. I was wrong about the Ole Miss offense. Most of all, I was wrong about Alabama’s program in general. They still are elite in this conference, they still are elite in this country.”

Doering made sure to clarify that he was apologizing to the Alabama players for underestimating them, not to the fans or his co-hosts.

Then on “SEC This Morning” on Monday, Doering told his co-host, Peter Burns, that he would not apologize to him.

“You were the one that goaded me into this,” Doering said. “You started this 2 weeks ago, so actually I think you owe me an apology, I’ve been publicly embarrassed, I’ve been criticized on social media. … I’m mad at everyone around here, the producers, the rest of the talent, Gene Chizik, everybody completely goaded me into this and I took it hook, line and sinker.”
