What would happen is Alabama and Clemson met for the fifth consecutive season?

The series has been split at two games apiece in recent seasons with back-to-back blowouts, the first game being won by Alabama in the national semifinals following the 2017 season and the second game won by Clemson in the title game at the end of the 2018 season. Both programs will likely enter the 2019 season as the top two teams in the nation in the preseason polls and the favorites to meet once again in College Football Playoff National Championship Game.

Looking ahead to the potential matchup between the two powerhouse programs, longtime USA Today oddsmaker Danny Sheridan says he would make Alabama a three-point favorite against Clemson, according to a tweet from Paul Finebaum. It’s worth noting that Alabama was a five-point favorite against Clemson heading into the national championship game and the Tigers managed to pull off an impressive 44-16 win over the Crimson Tide.

Nick Saban’s program has only been an underdog once dating back to the 2009 season and that game came back in 2015 when Alabama was a one-point underdog at Georgia. The Crimson Tide went on to win that game 38-10.

What do you think about that hypothetical line by Sheridan?
