Jedrick Wills didn’t have to wait long to hear his name called Thursday night.

Alabama linemen rarely do.

The Cleveland Browns selected Wills with the No. 10 overall pick in the 1st round of the NFL Draft.

Wills is the Tide’s 7th offensive linemen taken in the opening round since Nick Saban arrived. That total leads the country.

Wills was the 6th SEC player taken in the first 10 picks.

Draft analyst Louis Riddick rated Wills the best tackle prospect in the draft, so the only suspense Thursday was how early he’d go in the opening round.

“If you watch Jedrick Wills on tape this year at Alabama, it’s beautiful to watch,” Riddick told 247 Sports. “This guy’s technique is very consistent. Tremendous strength in his lower body. Plays with a consistent pace. Routinely is driving people off the ball. Pass sets very consistently, and he played in the high-powered offense against some high-powered opponents.”

The numbers support the praise. According to Alabama coaches, Wills missed just 7 assignments in 771 snaps this past season while protecting Tua Tagovailoa’s blind side.

Now he’ll protect Baker Mayfield while opening running lanes for Nick Chubb.
