Derrick Ansley will soon be a member of the Alabama defensive coaching staff, according to a report from The Tuscaloosa News.

The former Troy football player and Alabama graduate assistant has spent the last couple of seasons on the Kentucky football staff, where he now serves as the co-defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach.

According to the report from Alabama beat writer Aaron Suttles, Ansley is expected to fill the vacancy on the Crimson Tide defensive staff left by the departure of Mel Tucker, who joined Kirby Smart’s staff at Georgia following the Crimson Tide’s national championship game victory.

Suttles says it is believed that Ansley will coach the Alabama secondary while new defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt focuses on inside linebackers.
