Davis Mills committed to play football at Stanford on Tuesday morning.

By Wednesday afternoon, the four-star quarterback from Norcross, Ga. already had a reason to second-guess that decision.

He Tweeted out a message revealing that Alabama had offered him a scholarship.

Rated as the No. 4 pro-style QB in the 2017 recruiting class in the 247Sports composite rankings, Mills already had SEC offers from Georgia, Arkansas, Kentucky, Missouri, Ole Miss and Vanderbilt prior to making his decision to play for Cardinal coach David Shaw.

But any time Nick Saban’s Crimson Tide staff comes calling, most recruits will listen.

There are more than 10 months until National Signing Day, which means yesterday’s verbal commitment to Stanford will have to withstand nearly a year’s worth of scrutiny from coaches closer to home.

Good luck, Coach Shaw. You’re likely to need it.
