Tennessee Titans tight end Delanie Walker has kept silent about rookie teammates until they’ve earned rights to stick around on the roster until Week 1, but he had to make an exception for one newcomer.

Former Alabama running back Derrick Henry, who won the Heisman Trophy in 2015 and then was drafted by the Titans with the No. 45 overall pick in the second round of the NFL draft, has already made quite the impression on Walker in the little time they’ve been around each other.

All 6-foot-3, 247 pounds of him.

“I have been sizing up Henry, man,” Walker said at the Saint Thomas Sports Park on Wednesday. “He’s a big dude. … I feel like he’s going to be a monster for this team. I usually don’t talk to the rookies until they make the team, but he’s one of the guys I think can help this team out. … He’s probably one of the biggest running backs I’ve seen.”

Henry led the entire FBS with 2,219 yards rushing and 28 touchdowns during his final season with Alabama, which ended with an emphatic 158-yard, three-score performance in a national championship win against Clemson’s top 25 rushing defense.

Paired now with DeMarco Murray — the NFL’s leading rusher in 2014 — Henry is hoping he can bring that kind of production to Tennessee’s backfield as a rookie this upcoming season. And he’s willing to put in the necessary work.

“I just want to prove myself and earn respect now that I am here,” Henry said, per TitansOnline.com. “It’s a fresh start. I have to come from the bottom and work my way up.”

Earlier this week, Henry reported to Tennessee’s headquarters when he signed his four-year rookie contract, which is worth $5.4 million with a $2.13 million signing bonus ($3.3 million guaranteed).

He will participate in the Titans’ rookie minicamp beginning Friday (today).
