The injury concerns about Alabama QB Tua Tagovailoa are largely focused on the next few weeks and his availability for the LSU game on Nov. 9, and the balance of the season in conference play and a potential SEC Championship Game.

But ESPN analyst Desmond Howard said the NFL has reason to wonder about Tagovailoa’s health as this is the second ankle injury he’s suffered inside of a year. This is the right ankle, and last year he suffered a left ankle injury.

Tagovailoa suffered the injury on a roll-out play when he was tackled by the ankles last week against Tennessee.

“Moving forward, if you’re the Miami Dolphins, you have to be concerned with the fragility of his ankles,” Howard said on ESPN’s “Get Up!” “It was one ankle last year, now a different ankle this year. What’s going on with this young man’s health, and is this a problem that can occur again and again and again? That’s what I would be worried about.”

Howard said he’s not sure if Tagovailoa would be the first QB off the board in the NFL Draft as he said he really likes LSU QB Joe Burrow.

SEC Network host Paul Finebaum said Tagovailoa suffered the same injury on the other ankle last season, and appeared fine in the College Football Playoff semifinal, but struggled in the national championship game.

“He’s got some problems and you just don’t know what’s in his head, not only with this game ahead of him, but with the Draft around the corner,” Finebaum said.
