Moments after Tua Tagovailoa declared early for the 2020 NFL Draft, one of his fellow juniors in Tuscaloosa announced he planned to stay with the program for one more season as DeVonta Smith made that news official on Monday.

Following his outstanding junior season on the field, Smith was named All-American by the Associated Press and The Sporting News as well as garnered All-SEC Second-Team honors from the league’s coaches.

Smith finished the season with 68 receptions for 1,256 yards and 14 touchdowns. His receiving yards and touchdown figures led Alabama this season while he led the nation this season with 731 yards after the catch, an average of 61.0 per game.

While he likely would have been an early selection in the upcoming draft, Smith now has the opportunity to improve his stock and potentially be the first overall receiver taken by the time the 2021 NFL Draft arrives.
