Elliot Washington, a 4-star safety in the class of 2023 from Venice, Florida, has announced his commitment to play in the SEC.
Washington wrote on social media that he’s 100 percent committed to Alabama, and added “Roll Tide Roll.” Washington is the No. 18 safety in the class, and the No. 35 player in the state of Florida, according to the 247Sports Composite.
He’s the first commitment in the 2023 class for Alabama after he visited Tuscaloosa this weekend.
His father, Elliott Washington, played basketball for the University of Alabama from 1991-93, Rivals reported. The visit marked Washington’s second trip to Alabama as a recruit. He participated in the Tide’s camp in June. Nick Saban reportedly visited Venice High School on Jan. 19.
“I had a great visit at Bama,” Washington told Rivals. “Just meeting more coaches and spending time with them all. I had more of a chance to enjoy it all.”
Washington recorded 54 tackles, 2 tackles for loss and 4 interceptions during the 2021 season. He announced a top 5 in November of Alabama, Georgia, Michigan, Ohio State and Penn State. He then announced in December his recruitment is “100-percent open to all universities” because of coaching changes.
