Former Alabama offensive lineman and current Indianapolis Colts center Ryan Kelly is scheduled to undergo surgery on a bone defect in his foot Friday.

That’s according to a tweet from ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The surgery will cause Kelly to be on the sidelines for six to eight weeks, Schefter’s source said.

Thursday’s news comes just one week after Kelly was reportedly having foot trouble at practice.

This is bad news for the Colts, which thought they had the center position locked down coming into camp. Kelly was only the fifth rookie offensive lineman in Colts’ history to start all 16 regular season games.

The Colts drafted Kelly in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft. He was a part of three national championship teams at Alabama in 2011, 2012 and 2015.
