How BCS would rank the 2018 season after Week 8 action
Human polls and computer rankings don’t agree this week on the No. 1 in the country.
The computer rankings would list Clemson No. 1, while the human polls would rank Alabama No. 1 the same week that the Crimson Tide are a unanimous top team in the Associated Press poll. The Crimson Tide secured all but two first-place votes in the coaches poll after beating Tennessee 58-21 and improving their record to 8-0.
Those old equations that made up one-third of the old BCS formula are still active even if that postseason format is dead, and Massey Ratings have collected them.
Of those six, Alabama is No. 1 in just two. The Sagarin and Massey ratings have the Crimson Tide on top while it is as low as No. 3 in three of them (Wolfe, Colley Matrix and Billingsley).
Alabama is as low as No. 64 in the Colley Matrix ranking of schedules, but for context, that’s a snapshot of the season to date and will no doubt improve next month when the LSU game is played.
Here is what the BCS standings would look like based on the current rankings. The computer rankings avg. was provided by @masseyratings
1. Clemson
2. Alabama
3. Notre Dame
4. LSU
5. Michigan
6. Georgia
7. Oklahoma
8. Florida
9. Texas
10. Ohio State— Cody Kellner (@cody_kellner) October 21, 2018
