Former South Carolina cornerback Jaycee Horn and ex-Alabama cornerback Patrick Surtain II are +1000 to win Defensive Rookie of the Year honors next season.

Here are the latest odds from BetOnline:

Both players went in the top 10 of the 2021 NFL Draft. Horn went No. 8 overall to the Carolina Panthers and Surtain was selected No. 9 overall by the Denver Broncos.

Over a three-year career with South Carolina, Horn made 101 total tackles, including seven tackles for loss and three sacks. He also recorded two interceptions and two forced fumbles.

Surtain was even more productive. He produced 116 total tackles, six tackles for loss and four interceptions. He also forced four fumbles and scored a touchdown in three seasons for the Crimson Tide.

It’s relatively rare for a cornerback to win this award, but it has happened twice recently. Marshon Lattimore did it in 2017 with the New Orleans Saints, as did Kansas City Chiefs corner Marcus Peters in 2015.

Before that pair, you’d have to go back to Charles Woodson in 1998 to find a corner who has won Defensive Rookie of the Year.
