Kalen DeBoer makes case for Alabama to be in College Football Playoff field

Kalen DeBoer hopes to be coaching in a College Football Playoff game later this month. At this point, Alabama’s fate is in the hands of the CFP selection committee.
DeBoer’s Crimson Tide team entered Rivalry Week ranked No. 13 by the committee. While the Playoff is a 12-team field, UA was actually the second team out, as the Big 12 champion is in line to claim 1 of the 5 conference champion slots. Arizona State is currently the highest-ranked Big 12 team at No. 16.
Ahead of Alabama, No. 2 Ohio State, No. 6 Miami and No. 12 Clemson all lost games. For Ohio State and Miami, it’s just the second loss of the season, but neither team will play for its conference title. Clemson will drop, but the Tigers will play for the ACC championship.
Another immediate concern for Alabama is the team that beat Clemson, South Carolina. The Gamecocks are on a 6-game winning streak since the loss to Alabama on Oct. 12.
DeBeor asks the committee to consider Alabama’s schedule. He pointed to wins over 4 ranked opponents (Georgia, South Carolina, Mizzou, LSU).
Kalen DeBoer asked for playoff pitch: “Everyone is aware of our schedule … I know we beat four top-25 teams throughout the year. … When you talk about the schedule and what it is, week to week, it’s just a grind.”

The next Playoff rankings will be revealed Tuesday. Many in Tuscaloosa are sure to be on the edge of their seats to see just where the committee places the Crimson Tide.
