Kirk Herbstreit, Chris Fowler catching heat for comments about Jermaine Burton on ESPN
Kirk Herbstreit and Chris Fowler were on the call for ESPN’s broadcast of Alabama’s win over Mississippi State on Saturday night.
Alabama WR Jermaine Burton played in the game despite some drama surrounding him since the Tennessee game, when a video showed him apparently striking a female Tennessee fan in the face.
Fowler and Herbstreit discussed the incident during Saturday night’s broadcast, and fans weren’t necessarily happy with what was said:
Shame on @cbfowler and @KirkHerbstreit! We all saw the video of Burton punching a woman for no good reason. He was not scared. Pathetic. pic.twitter.com/lSHcvhFfok

As Fowler mentioned, Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide elected to handle Burton’s punishment internally rather than suspend him for a game at this point.
Saban said last week that field storming is a tough situation, but also added that his players have to respect other people. It seems some fans felt Fowler and Herbstreit missed the mark with their comments on Saturday.
