The Nick Saban-Lane Kiffin partnership didn’t end on the best of terms at Alabama, but Kiffin, who is now the head coach at Florida Atlantic, has nothing but respect for his former boss.

However, he would like it if the five-time champion would occasionally return his text messages.

In a great profile on Kiffin by ESPN’s Chris Low, Kiffin says he sometimes texts with Saban’s wife, Terry, but hasn’t heard back from Saban himself:

Kiffin says he still sends text messages to Saban, though Saban doesn’t text back — with anyone. However, Kiffin has conversed with Saban’s wife, Terry, via text message.

“I know I get a lot of grief about some of the things I’ve said about Coach Saban, but working under him was like going back to school and getting another degree,” Kiffin says. “I’ve been able to find that mix between Coach Saban and Pete Carroll, and because of that, I’m much more prepared as a head coach.”

Kiffin’s Owls have already claimed a spot in the Conference USA championship game, so the former Alabama offensive coordinator is doing great work.

He could very well have a chance to land a bigger job this offseason, but if he doesn’t, he’ll likely be a hot commodity following the 2018 season.
