The Alabama Crimson Tide had the No. 1 recruiting class every year since 2010, but in 2018, Nick Saban’s crew only managed to land the No. 7 class in the country.

Meanwhile former Alabama DC Kirby Smart landed the nation’s top class for the Georgia Bulldogs, so many are wondering if the tides (pun intended) are turning in the SEC.

However, during his appearance on WJOX’s “The Opening Drive” on Friday, former Alabama QB John Parker Wilson explained why it’s not time to panic in Tuscaloosa just yet (check it out at about the 8:00 mark):

“You want to be in the top 10,” he said. “I think the biggest thing that hurts the most for Alabama guys is that one of our own, Kirby Smart, has the No. 1 recruiting class. The guy that we groomed and helped out has now come in our backyard in the Southeastern Conference and getting the No. 1 recruiting class, I think that’s the thing that hurts the most.

“But top 10 is where you want to be. I think the thing about recruiting, it’s great, 5-stars, and it’s a huge deal now, but it’s about developing the players, and I think coach Saban does that as good as anybody else. That’s what it’s really about — getting good guys on campus.”

Indeed, it’s not like Alabama ended up with a bunch of no-name guys. The No. 7 class in the country is nothing to shake your head at.

Plus, if anyone can take this group and turn it into another amazing class, it’s Saban and his staff.
