The Miami Hurricanes nearly lost a talented assistant coach on Monday when it was rumored that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers had interviewed DL coach Craig Kuligowski.

Kuligowski didn’t get the job, though, so coach Mark Richt probably thought he dodged a bullet. However, it was then reported that Kuligowski, a longtime Missouri assistant, was leaving to pursue other options.

ProFootballTalk said the Hurricanes made things official in an announcement on Monday night:

(T)he Hurricanes announced in a press release that Kuligowski “is leaving the program to pursue other opportunities.” What and where specifically that opportunity is wasn’t divulged by the football program.

Apparently, he could soon end up at Alabama, filling the open DL coach position on Nick Saban’s staff:

Kuligowski was at Mizzou from 2001 to 2015, and is widely considered one of the best D-Line coaches in the country.

It’ll be interesting to see if he does indeed end up in Tuscaloosa next year.
