Alabama had a lot of success in Atlanta during the life of the Georgia Dome.

The Georgia Dome began hosting the SEC Championship Game in 1994 and did so through 2016. Atlanta will still host the game moving forward but it will be played in the new Mercedes-Benz Stadium that opened this season. The Georgia Dome was also officially demolished Monday morning.

If one college team is disappointed to see the Dome go, it has to be Alabama. The Tide won six SEC Championships there and posted an 11-3 overall record in the Dome.

Alabama Football even shared an official farewell to the Dome on Twitter Monday:

It will be interesting to see if the Tide are able to have as much success in the new stadium as it had while competing in the Dome. They are already 1-0 in Mercedes-Benz Stadium after beating Florida State there in the season opener this season.
