Somebody in ESPN’s graphics department made a mistake for the ages.

UCF is playing FAU in a game shown on ESPN. The World Wide Leader (maybe not after this epic slip-up) decided to make a graphic comparing quarterbacks Tua Tagovailoa and McKenzie Milton, both from Hawaii.

In a graphic, someone at ESPN slipped up and put that Milton’s Knights won the College Football Playoff while Tagovailoa and the Crimson Tide “claimed” its national championship. How the graphic made it to the air with such an egregious error is truly a mystery.

To their credit, UCF’s social media team appeared to acknowledge that this wasn’t validation of the Knights’ title claim.

Everyone who observed the 2017 football season is aware that Alabama won the College Football Playoff, in large part thanks to Tagovailoa. UCF claimed a title – a story you might have heard about this offseason – after going undefeated in the regular season and defeating SEC West champion Auburn in the Peach Bowl.
