As a college football coach, you want your players to be confident, but you don’t want them to provide bulletin-board material to the opposing team.

Louisville hasn’t done such a good job of avoiding the bulletin-board material, though, and that could be bad news heading into a Week 1 matchup against defending national champion Alabama.

On Tuesday, it was senior OL Lukayus McNeil’s turn to irk the Tide. According to the Louisville Courier-Journal, McNeil said he thinks the Cardinals’ offensive line can dominate the Tide’s defensive front:

“I understand that they got a good, deep front,” he said. “But we got a great O-line. So if we can dominate up front, then we’re not worried about the defensive front at all. I definitely think we’re capable of going out, starting off fast and dominating their D-line.”

Again, that’s the mindset McNeil has to have if he’s going to share a field with Raekwon Davis, Isaiah Buggs and company, but you don’t need to say things like that to the media.

Alabama will certainly take note of these comments, and we’ll see how that plays out on Saturday afternoon in Orlando.
