In November, Auburn learned that calling Mac Jones a “game-manager” is a sensitive topic in Tuscaloosa. Crimson Tide players may need to teach Dan Mullen the same lesson.

The Florida head coach said Jones “does a great job managing their offense” in Sunday’s SEC Championship Game media teleconference.

Here’s the Q&A from the transcript:

You’ve certainly been asked plenty about your guy. What do you see when you look at Mac Jones?

“He’s a guy that has had a great year. Very similar to Kyle. Does a great job managing their offense, distributing the ball to all the different play-makers, getting them in the right plays at the right time, taking what the defense gives him.

“He’s had a great season.”

Mullen is presumably unaware of the hubbub caused by Bo Nix’s comments ahead of the Iron Bowl.

“He does a great job managing the game, getting the ball to his players around him,” Nix said of Jones during game week. “Obviously he’s got a great running back, great offensive line, great receivers. That helps a lot. But he does a good job of managing the job, taking completions and knowing what to do with the ball.”

Alabama players took Nix’s comments as an insult and the team’s social media account trolled the Tiger QB after UA’s 42-13 win.

It’s a bold strategy giving Jones and company more motivation, Dan.
