If anyone knows what Saturday’s game between Alabama and Texas is all about, it’s running back Mark Ingram.

Ingram, a former star for the Crimson Tide and current New Orleans Saints standout, was a focal point of the Crimson Tide’s 37-21 win over the Longhorns in the 2010 national championship. Against one of the top-ranked defenses, Ingram rushed for 116 yards and 2 touchdowns off 22 carries.

As the Tide preps for their battle on the Forty Acres, Ingram is the voice of the outing. In the latest hype video by the Alabama social media team, Ingram narrates what every fan that bleeds Crimson and Cream should feel before kickoff.

The victory in Pasadena, Calif. marked the start of a dynasty under coach Nick Saban. Since then, Alabama has gone on to win 5 more national titles and make it to countless appearances in the College Football Playoff. Ingram, who finished the season with 1,658 rushing yards and 20 total touchdowns, became the first player in program history to win the coveted Heisman Trophy.

Since Ingram hoisted the hardware, Alabama has featured 3 more Heisman winners. Running back Derrick Henry took home the title during his record-setting season in 2015. Wide receiver DeVonta Smith became the first pass-catcher to win the award since Desmond Howard in 1991 during his stellar 2020 season. Last fall, quarterback Bryce Young won the award after finishing second among all FBS passers in passing yards (4,872) and touchdowns (47) while leading the Tide to another national title appearance.

Kickoff from Austin is set for noon ET. Alabama enters Saturday as a projected near-3 touchdown favorite.
