The Miami Dolphins hope they have their quarterback of the future in former Alabama star Tua Tagovailoa.

However, as he prepares for his rookie season, there’s a good chance Tua won’t be able to wear the No. 13 jersey he wore at Alabama. Why? Well, that number once belonged to a guy you may have heard of — Dan Marino.

On Wednesday, columnist Mike Bianchi suggested that Dan Marino himself should un-retire the No. 13 jersey and let Tua wear it:

Here’s what Bianchi wrote in his column:

Marino is indeed the Dolphins’ GOAT (“Greatest Of All Time”), but wouldn’t it be amazing if he also became the franchise’s GOAT — the most “Gracious Of All Time.” Think about it: He would become a South Florida hero all over again if he held a big news conference and generously presented the No. 13 to Tua. (Good God, would I be a good PR guy or what?)

Let’s just say Dolphins fans aren’t as gung-ho about the idea as Bianchi is:

We’ll see what the Dolphins decide to do, but Dolphins fans have made it clear they don’t want the No. 13 jersey on the field ever again. Will Marino weigh in on this? Or, will this story simply fade away?
