College football lost a ton of muscle this week as former Big 12 referee Mike Defee is headed to the NFL.

According to Mark Schultz of Football Zebras, Defee will be taking over a front office role in the NFL and has retired from college football officiating.

If Defee looks familiar, that’s because you’ve probably seen him before. The longtime Big 12 referee worked the 2017 National Championship Game between Clemson and Alabama.

After flexing his guns with every call, Defee went viral during the game.

So much so that he was featured on ABC program “Good Morning America” following the game.

Here’s the segment the show did no Defee after his title game appearance.
