Fall camp is nearing its end for the Alabama Crimson Tide football team.

Head coach Nick Saban is adding in his two cents for players to take with them, in terms of a challenge that hopes to reel in more than the typical football player mentality, per Austin Brezina, writer at On3 Sports. The challenge includes maintaining more consistency for a key performance on the field.

During Wednesday’s press conference, Saban touched more on this philosophy and what he hopes his team will develop while being student-athletes at Alabama.

“I guess the message I had for the players is, the real challenge now … I know school started today and you know it’s kinda the dog days of camp now when you get this deep into it,” said Saban. “Still [a] pretty long ways until you play a game, but still a lot of things to work on. You know, you gotta challenge yourself to be what you wanna see. Take ownership for what you want to accomplish, what you want to do.”

Saban noted the ways to produce positive results, including forming habits that create good performances on the field and staying focused on their goals.

There is always room for improvement being a high-caliber team. Saban wants to keep that energy a prime example of his team staying consistent and goal-minded throughout the season.

“A big focus this week is take where we were last week … and try to improve on it,” Saban said on gearing up for the first game. “So that this next scrimmage is sort of the last dress rehearsal, so to speak, until the first game comes.”

The Crimson Tide will start the season in nonconference play against Utah State on Sept. 3 at home.
