Alabama wrecked another SEC opponent last week, beating Ole Miss by a whopping 63 points in Tuscaloosa. This weekend, the Crimson Tide will travel to College Station to face off against an improving 4-1 Texas A&M.

Nick Saban previewed the matchup during Wednesday’s SEC Coaches Teleconference.

Here’s a summary of what the Alabama coach had to say:

  • “Obviously the biggest challenge we will have so far this season, playing on the road against an opponent that should be undefeated for all intents and purposes.”
  • Thoughts on Jalen Hurts? “He’s played really well for us, we are pleased with his improvements. He’s been a good decision maker, keeping his eyes downfield and making plays in the passing game.”
  • Thoughts on the new OC? “It’s going extremely well. He’s giving us great balance. He does a great job of preparing the players.”
  • Thoughts on his team’s defense of Ole Miss WR A.J. Brown? “We have respect for him, he’s a tremendous player. He obviously isn’t 100% so give him credit for playing but our players have so much respect for him, we were able to limit his big plays.”
  • Thoughts on A&M? “They have 3 good running backs, #3 (Kirk) is a good WR, they are doing what they need to do on offense to get those guys the ball. Their QB has played better in each game that he has played. I think they are doing a great job of utilizing him.”
  • Thoughts on Christian Kirk as a kick returner? “No matter how hard you try to keep it away from it, he may get it, so I think the coverage unit will be important this week. I know he got us in the past for a touchdown.”
  • How big is it to have three great RBs? It helps each of them. It keeps them all fresh in every game. They affect the defense in different ways. I think it’s unique to have that type of depth.
  • How do you keep your team focused after lopsided SEC games? It’s always a challenge to keep consistently. If the players don’t understand that, their chances of success won’t be what it could be.”
  • Thoughts on your OL? “They have progressed nicely, got better each and every week. I think the challenge they will have this week will be the biggest since the opener against FSU. They will need all the knowledge and experience to have success against this team.”
  • On cellphone tape video? “I think if you are on the sideline, you need to be focused on the game. No one is allowed to have a cellphone on the sideline. We have a rule against cell phones on the sideline. It’s a focus issue. I don’t know what more to say about it.”
