Ole Miss’ quarterback situation isn’t clear entering this weekend, and that’s affected Alabama’s preparation for Saturday’s matchup between the two teams.

Rebels redshirt freshman quarterback Matt Corral has bruised ribs, which he suffered during last week’s game against Cal. Meanwhile, head coach Matt Luke has said that true freshman John Rhys Plumlee could get some playing time even if Corral is healthy. Of course, that could be a lot more time if Corral isn’t available to play.

During his Wednesday press conference, Alabama head coach Nick Saban talked about the difficulty of preparing for two different quarterbacks, which will be the case this week ahead of the game against Ole Miss.

“Both guys are really good athletes,” Saban said. “Both guys can really run. Both guys are very capable passers. We know what they’ve done with Matt when he’s playing. We don’t really know what their plan would be with the No. 2 guy if he has to play. But he’s a very good athlete. He’s very fast. He can make great plays with his feet. We don’t know if they’ll be more into the quarterback runs if that’s the case. We know he made two explosive plays at the end of the game last week, both because he extended plays. He was scrambling and threw a long ball or ran the ball very effectively.

“It’s hard to know the unknown, to be honest with you. We’ll have to adjust in the game, obviously, if they’re doing something different than what we’ve anticipated.”

No matter which Ole Miss quarterback plays Saturday, it’s going to be a challenging task going up against the vaunted Alabama defense.

The Crimson Tide and Rebels are set to kick off at 3:30 p.m. ET on CBS.
