Nick Saban is the most talked about coach in the country. Winning has a way of doing that, doesn’t it?

Over his illustrious SEC career, Saban has won four national championships (three with Alabama), five SEC Championships and eight Western division crowns. Some of those have been with LSU, of course.

Saban joined Paul Finebaum on ESPN’s Outside the Lines recently, and Saban feels like his teams have been good enough to win eight national championships.

“We haven’t finished the season in the last two seasons like we’d like,” Saban said. “People talk about you won four national championships. Well, I feel like we’ve had good enough teams to win eight. So I feel like we failed four times. I feel like I failed four times.”

Alabama’s 2008, 2010, 2013 and 2014 teams were certainly capable of winning championships.

Saban’s always been his biggest critic, and it doesn’t sound like he’s slowing down anytime soon, even hinting at 16 more years.

“You know my mother had a hole-in-one when she was 80,” Saban said on the broadcast. “I never had one. So I’m thinking I have 16 more good years of golf, and if I can play golf I should be able to coach.”

Alabama’s roster is stacked with elite talent at every position, and it’s arguably his deepest roster yet, especially in his defensive front seven. It’s inevitable that Saban and Alabama will make another push for the College Football Playoff again in 2015.
