Nick Saban has developed quite the reputation for being a football coach, not a people person.

But Saban insists he can be both, asserting that he is indeed approachable at a media availability Wednesday evening.

“I think most of you all, including the person asking the question, sort of think I’m not approachable,” Saban said, via Mike Rodak of AL.com. “I don’t think that’s the case at all.”

He added his appearances on the “Hey Coach” show with host Eli Gold has been his attempt to build positive relationships with media and fans in tandem.

“One of the things I’ve always found a radio show to give me an opportunity to do is to allow people to approach me and see how approachable I am,” Saban said Wednesday. “I think it’s a good thing for me to see some of the media people that are actually hosts on the show. I get to know them a little bit better. They see a little different side of me.”
