Nick Saban has plenty of things for the Alabama defense to work on this week, and most of the issues happened in the final 3 quarters on Saturday against Florida in the 31-29 win.

Saban said at his Monday press conference that there were lessons to be learned from the game, especially playing on the road against a good team. One of them was to not let up, and to play Alabama football for 60 minutes, and can’t relinquish big leads.

Overall, Alabama gave up 440 yards, including 245 rushing yards as Florida also converted 2-of-3 fourth down attempts.

“We didn’t execute,” he said. “Maybe there was one time we had a pressure on, they ran a speed option and we didn’t have enough guys there. It really came down to executing. They did some different things, but you’ve got to adapt to those things and to play things on principle at at times, we didn’t do that very well. We weren’t very aggressive, we didn’t get off the field on third down, especially in the second half. We had opportunities to get off the field on third down and did not do it.”

Alabama missed opportunities throughout that 99-yard drive, including a long third down.

“Those are plays you have to make in a game,” Saban said. “So that’s something we need to continue to work on.”
