Last week, Alabama redshirt freshman running back Trey Sanders was in a car accident, suffering non-life-threatening injuries. On Monday, Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban shared the latest update on Sanders’ status during his weekly press conference.

“We expect him to have a full recovery, but I do think that he is probably out indefinitely,” Saban told the media. “There’s no real timetable. He’s going to be OK, but pretty serious stuff.”

Saban said that Sanders underwent successful surgery at UAB Hospital. Although he didn’t share when exactly Sanders may return to football activities, AL.com’s Matt Zenitz reported earlier in the day that the running back is expected to miss the rest of the 2020 season.

Sanders missed all of 2019 with a foot injury, receiving a medical redshirt in his first year at Alabama. This season, he had 30 carries for 134 yards in four games.

Saban also shared an update on senior running back Brian Robinson Jr., who has been dealing with a minor injury. Saban said Robinson is “fine” and doesn’t think there should be any issues moving forward.

Coming off its bye, Alabama is preparing to face LSU on Saturday at 6 p.m. ET on CBS.
