Nick Saban shares latest Alabama injury report, Drew Sanders’ status
Alabama head coach Nick Saban shared an update on linebacker Drew Sanders’ status for this weekend’s homecoming game against Tennessee. Sanders, who was injured in the Ole Miss game, most likely won’t return until later in the season according to Saban.
“Drew Sanders is probably very doubtful for this game,” Saban told reporters, per Bama Online. “But we’re hopeful that maybe he’ll be, with the bye week coming up in another week – it just depends. I mean, they’ve gotta re-X-ray his wrist and make sure everything is OK in there.
“We’re hopeful that he’ll be back for LSU.”
The sophomore linebacker, who was taking the place of Christopher Allen who is out for the year, has made a solid contribution to this Alabama defense.
Before his injury, he had 20 tackles, 10 are solo tackles, 4 quarterback hurries, and 2 pass breakups.
Saban also shared the latest on Byron Young and DeMarcco Hellams.
Nick Saban said DL Byron Young has practiced and should be able to play vs Tennessee.
Said LB Drew Sanders is doubtful.

Saban: “DeMarcco (Hellams) has kind of been struggling with a lingering ankle injury all the way back to fall camp.”
He will still play in games because they view him as a starting safety.
