Nick Saban weighs in on Bryce Young's performance during Alabama's scrimmage
The Alabama Crimson Tide held a closed scrimmage on Saturday afternoon. Afterwards, coach Nick Saban met with the media.
Naturally, media members wanted to know about the play of starting QB Bryce Young, and the report from Saban was a positive one.
Saban said Young played well, but he seemed to imply that other players around him weren’t playing as well:
Nick Saban: "I think Bryce (Young) did a good job today. I think we have to play well around Bryce. At times today, I don't think we did as good a job as we need to."

Per a report from Kyle Henderson of Rivals, Young threw 3 touchdown passes during the closed scrimmage:
From what I hear Alabama quarterback Bryce Young tossed three touchdown passes today during Alabama’s first scrimmage

Young showed flashes of brilliance in limited action in 2020. Replacing a Heisman finalist like Mac Jones is never easy, but early reports on Young’s play thus far in fall camp seem encouraging.
